Bujumbura — A message from Angolan head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, to his Burundian counterpart, Pierre Nkurunziza, was delivered Wednesday in Bujumbura by the vice president, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos.
Speaking to Angolan journalists after the audience granted to him in Bujumbura by the local head of State, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos said in his message president Dos Santos congratulates Pierre Nkurunziza on his re-election and swearing-in that will take place on Thursday.
"It was a clear victory. He has been having a good performance at the head of the destinies of Burundi since 2005 and our two countries have been cooperating and naturally the two parties (Angola and Burundi) intend to reinforce these ties of bilateral cooperation," he stated.
He further stated that Pierre Nkurunzinza reaffirmed his wish for a more visible cooperation from the socio-economic viewpoint and see Angolan business people investing in Burundi.
"We are going to take this message to our country and, naturally, all possibilities will be analysed and everything possible will be implemented," the Angolan vice president added.
According to the Angolan vice president, accompanied in the trip by the secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, George Chicoty, with the result of the election of June this year, Burundi gains more political and social stability.
This, he added, paves the way for implementation of intentions and accords existing between Angola and Burundi.
Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos arrived Wednesday in Bujumbura to represent president Dos Santos at the swearing-in of Pierre Nkurunziza as head of State.
