Luanda — The consul general of Guinea Bissau today considered that political and military instability in his country could end by granting, in first place, proper pensions to freedom fighters, as percursors of the country's independence.

Speaking to Angop, Jose Isaac Monteiro Silva stated that the war vet pension should lead to dignified retirement to the military who left the bush long time ago and still have uncertainties about their future, adding that many organizations only criticize Guinea Bissau but none has risen to grant effective support.

On his country's position within the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), African Portuguese Speaking Countries (PALOP), Econimic Community of West African Countries (ECOWAS) and the Africa Union, the diplomat said that to respect their positions, but, accoring to him, stability in Guinea Bissau requires a consensus that could help resolve the military issues.

The diplomat called upon the attention of international organizations and other institutions on the precarious conditions of the war vets in Guinea Bissau and asked for their urgent assistance for the resolution of this matter.
