Kigali — John Rwangombwa, the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning has hailed the services of the newly launched KPMG. He said they are timely and will facilitate the economic growth of Rwanda.

KPMG is a global network of professional firms providing audit, tax and advisory services.

During the launching of the firm last week, Rwangombwa said that KPMG services come at a time when the country is harvesting more economic gain and moving away from economic dependence to self reliance.

"Your operations in audit, tax and advisory services, will help us achieve a strong economic growth and transform it into a private sector led economy," said Rwangombwa.

KPMG Rwanda office joins Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania which together comprise the KPMG East Africa firm that has 17 partners and over 400 professional staff.

KPMG has in the past (since 1998) worked with the Rwandan government to implement the privatization program and modernize Rwanda Revenue Administration to provide the resources required for national reconstruction and poverty reduction.

The Minister noted that the operations of KPMG are recognized internationally and together with Rwanda's improved business environment, more foreign investors will come into the Rwandan economy.

"Your accountancy and audit will help us strengthen our effort and campaign to achieving zero tolerance to corruption," said Rwangombwa.

The firm's tax services offers cutting edge tax solutions that meet the needs and objectives of clients' desire to comply with tax laws as well as providing local and international tax solutions on any tax problem.

On the African continent, KPMG operates in 24 countries and working with more than 7,000 professionals.

The firm has already started to invest in recruitment, development and retention of individuals.
