Namibia: Climate Change Conference Now On

Windhoek — A two-day conference on sustainable land use, environment and development in Africa, started yesterday at the Polytechnic of Namibia.

The Minister of Education Dr Abraham Iyambo was the guest speaker yesterday.

The event is presented by the Academic Partnership for Environment and Development Innovations (APEDIA) with its primary objective the development of higher education capacities.

This conference focuses on the strategies for adaptation to climate change in Africa with stress on land use implications.

Some of the topics to be discussed include: reducing vulnerability to floods through sustainable land use management, integrated land and water management lessons from the Limpopo River Basin, climate change adaptation in Africa, environment and land use change, climate change and disasters.
