Namibia: The 'Swakopmunder Musikwoche' Keeps Up With the Times - Goes Online

THE 'Swakopmunder Musikwoche' (Swakopmund's annual week-long music festival) is now on the web and therefore accessible to all.

The website address is www.musikwoche.com.

Registration for the 45th Musikwoche, which is scheduled to begin on December 14, has already started at the beginning of August, and participants can now register online too. Registration forms will however also still be available in the German Lutheran Church offices in Swakopmund as well as the Windhoek College of the Arts.

To guarantee a smooth workflow of the next event, all participants in Namibia and abroad are requested to register online at an early stage. Queries can also be forwarded to info@musikwoche.com, while some answers may also be available on the website. Since the page is still being built, visitors are encouraged to come to the site regularly, as there may often be new information.

The site promises to keep people informed about the lecturers and programme at this year's event, as well as about the history of the Musikwoche. There are also photographs of last year's event.

The prospective programme for this year is as follows: the lecturer concert will take place on the December 14. On the 15th is the open air Promenade Concert and on the 16th the Sunset Orchestra Concert, which allows young and old, 'newbies' and 'old stagers' to play music together. The two final concerts take place on December 17 and 18, and on Sunday morning the 19th the week closes with the traditional church concert. Ticket sales start on December 1 at the Lutheran church office in Swakopmund.
