Gambia: A Great Loss

editorial

We express our heartfelt condolences to Gambian women under the leadership of the vice president and minister of Women's Affairs, Her Excellency Dr. Aja Isatou Njie-Saidy and to the family of the Late Mrs. Mary Catherine Mendy-Johnson, who passed away in an unfortunate motor accident on her way to participate in the women's 'solidarity work' on President Jammeh's farms in Kanilai and environs last weekend.

The demise of Mrs Mendy-Johnson was really an irreparable loss to the people of The Gambia. She was such a dynamic lady, whose eagerness to contribute her quota to the development of her country was clearly evident before the cold hands of death snatched her from us. It is really shocking losing people like Mrs. Catherine Mendy- Johnson at this point in time. However, it is God who decides; He gives, and takes. Life is full of ups and downs, joy and sorrow.

Whatever it is, as faithful Muslims and Christians, we should remember that we still have the chance to see our beloved sister, Catherine Mendy-Johnson on resurrection day.

So let us remember her with prayers so that she may rest in perfect peace. Mrs. Mendy Johnson will ever be remembered as a true and patriotic citizen of this country. We pray that God gives the loved ones she left behind the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.
