Eritrea: Anseba Region - Inhabitants Called Upon to Make Good Use of Traffic Signs

Keren — The head of land transport in Anseba region, Mr. Mengesha Mehari, called on the general public to make good use of the traffic signs being installed in different parts of the region.

He stated that the branch office, in collaboration with various institutions, had put in place various traffic signs and shining devices in roads characterized with narrow and winding features, including Tunkulahas nine months ago.

Mr. Mengesha went on to say that the move is aimed at reducing traffic accidents and called on the public to refrain from destroying such devices. He further explained that the installed traffic signs are quite useful for drivers to properly follow their way both during day and night, and thus avoid possible accidents.

Lt. Girmai Tesfai from the Anseba region Police Office on his part pointed out that the traffic signs and shining devices have a major role to play in alleviating the damage inflicted on human life and property as a result of accident. To this end, he highlighted the need for undertaking intensive public awareness raising campaign and lecture.
