Angola: Plastic Artist Praises Government's Engagement in Expo Shangai2010

Luanda — The engagement of the Angolan government in divulging the new era that the country is living, at the Expo Shangai2010, opened in May, was considered by plastic artist Àlvaro Macieira as "a wonderful initiative".

In an interview to ANGOP, Àlvaro Maciera said that he worked with great pride for a month at the Angolan pavilion.

The artist explained that for thirty days, his work centred on selection of art works to exhibit at the venue dubbed "gallery Welwitchia", in honour of the pavilion.

The artist selected painting and photography that are being exhibited at the moment in the venue.

According to the author, works of artists such as Sérgio Afonso, that knows the country well, and pictures of Serra da Leba site, residents of Huíla and Cunene Province, images of coffee blooming in Uíge and Pedras Negras do Pungo Andongo will be on display at the mentioned gallery.

Namibe desert, ostrich and "galengue" animal in its habitat and images of Angolans daily life are also portrayed at Welwitchia gallery.
