Luanda — The winners of the 2010 edition of the yearly Luanda City Prize, in all categories, were announced Wednesday in Luanda by the Provincial Department of Culture.
The plastic arts prize (painting) was won by João Jorge, with the piece of work " Luanda, luandenses e as suas actividades tradicionais", while the sculpture one went to Pacheco Dito, with "O resgate dos valores culturais".
In the weaving category, the prize was won by Pedro Lino, with "Bessanganas", whereas there has been no winner for engraving, with the jury passing honourable mentions to António Andrade, Pedro Dala and João dos Santos (painting).
Gilberto Capitango, Manuel Ventura and António Camuto (engraving) were also awarded honourable mentions. Amândio Henriques (sculpture) also won a honourable mention.
The plastic arts winners will receive Usd 7,000 and a certificate.
As to literature, the prize has gone to António Fonseca, with title "Primo Narciso e outras histórias". Usd 10,000 is the amount of the prize.
Enigma Teatro won the theatre trophy with the play "Raiva", followed by the groups Henrique Artes with "É minha gente tem mesmo cheiro", and Kulonga with "Obrigado mãe". Usd 10,000, 7,000 and 5,000 are going to the first, second the third placed respectively.
The jury announced Adilson Imperial Vunge (Henrique Artes) as best actor, whereas Jessuina Magda Antonio Silva (Colectivo de Artes Alda Lara group) became the best actress. Usd 500 will go for each.
The Luanda City Prize is run every year under the celebrations of the Angolan capital city, in January.
