Nigeria: 50 Students to Benefit From Intercontinental Bank's Essay Competition

Lagos — Fifty undergraduates who emerge tops in the Intercontinental Bank essay competition to mark Nigeria's 50th anniversary will be rewarded with different category of prizes, managing director of the bank, Mr. Mahmoud Lai Alabi, has said.

Addresing journalists in Lagos, Mr Alabi said the overall best winner in the essay competition tagged 50 STARS @ 50 will get a cash educational grant of N500,000 in addition to one HP mini laptop.

He said the second best winner will be given educational grant of N300,000 and one HP mini laptop while the third winner will have educational grant of N200,000 in addition to HP mini laptop.

According to him, the competition is to re-echo the 50th independence anniversary of Nigeria and that one HP mini laptop will be given to each of the 4th to 50th finalists of the competition.

He explained that interested students would be required to download the forms from the bank's website and write on the topic "Nigeria: A nation @ 50, the past, the future."

He said that essay, which must not be more than 2,600 words, will be accessed by 20 professors drawn from diverse fields across Nigerian universities.
