Nigeria: Guber Aspirant Kicks Against NEC Meeting

Governorship aspirant of the All Nigeria People's Party (ANPP) in Lagos state Alhaji Abdullahi Yomi Tokoya has advised members of the party to stay away from the scheduled National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party in Abuja today.

Tokoya, in a statement made available to Daily Trust, described the meeting as "illegal" and called for the expulsion of Chief Edwin Ume-Ezeoke for alleged anti-party activities.

He commended members of the national executive committee of the party who purportedly sacked the Ume-Ezeoke NWC in a meeting in Abuja last week.

The aspirant also called on the transition committee of the ANPP led by Senator Mohammed A. Mohammed and the National Convention Committee led by Yobe State governor Ibrahim Gaidam to work towards stabilising the party and making it stronger ahead of the 2011 elections.
