Gambia: Building Collapses on 90-Year-Old Woman in CRR

Janjangbureh — One Jarria Jallow, a 90-year-old woman from Santanto Bubu Village in Upper Fulladu West District, Central River Region (CRR) south, last weekend sustained a fracture on her leg after a building collapsed on her.

Narrating the incident to this reporter in Santanto Bubu, Abdourahman Bah, grandson of the victim said the house crumbled during a heavy downpour. He further explained that they are now sheltered in an uncompleted building. The Central River Region Disaster Management Committee responded quickly by donating food items and other materials to the victims.

Presenting the items to the victim's family, the regional disaster coordinator, Bubacarr Fofana noted that the flood affected many people in the region, and appealed for more assistance for victims in the region.

The councillor of Daru Ward, Sanna Manneh, applauded the Regional Disaster Management Committee for their benevolent gesture, adding that the victims are vulnerable and need urgent assistance. He then called on other philanthropists to emulate such humanitarian gestures.
