The Volta River Authority (VRA) will today begin maintenance works on the Akosombo hydro power station. The program is part of the company's annual maintenance and modification on its six generating units at the Akosombo Generating Station and is expected to end December, 2010.

Officials of the Authority in a release issued in Accra yesterday said one generating unit during the said period will be taken out,"consecutively, to ensure that hydro generation is not curtailed".

The Authority, assured consumers that there will be sufficient supply of electricity to meet demand during the period. That notwithstanding, the Authority advised consumers to "make energy conversation a way of life".
