Kampala — Express SC is set to unveil national team goalkeeper Robert Odongkara and U-20 star striker Crizestom Ntambi among new arrivals at Wankulukuku today.
Both players have signed one year renewable deals to feature for the Red Eagles starting with the friendly against Nigerian club Soccer Wizards Osasun. Details of Ntambi's worth have remained secret but Odongkara is reportedly offered sh9m which the player has been demanding at SC Villa.
Odongkara has a year left on his contract at Villa Park and coach Sula Kato said that although the player has been dodgy, they have no requests from any clubs expressing interest in him.
Express have never paid such money in player transactions since departure of former club chairman Godfrey Kirumira in 2005 as they have largely depended on free agent players and talent from their feeder team Wembley.
But the Red Eagles general manager Mahmoud Kateregga said yesterday that paying sh9m for Odongkara was a business strategy for the club which plans to sell the player in South Africa or Greece .
"Any national team goalkeeper today is at least worth $50000, so if we spent $4500 on Robert and sell him at that $50000 in two months, we are in business."
