Damaturu — The new Yobe State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Malam Sadiq Abubakar Musa yesterday said that he would shed his last drop of blood to ensure free and fair elections in the state.
Musa who spoke to journalists in his office in Damaturu said 'the other way' of doing things in INEC was over, insisting that under the chairmanship of Professor Attahiru Jega and the calibre of commissioners brought on board, Nigerians should expect credible election that will ensure the emergence of credible leaders.
"God has a way of doing things and correcting inadequacies... probably that is why He gave President Goodluck Jonathan the wisdom to reorganise INEC," he said.
"Most of us (RECs) have our integrity at stake. We would ensure that we protect it through conducting free, fair and acceptable elections," Musa added.
Until his appointment as REC, Musa was a critic, public commentator and lecturer at the Kaduna Polytechnic.
He said if Yobe will be his last assignment on earth, he would conduct credible elections.
