The police Wednesday arraigned a Fulani herdsman before the Kuje Upper Area Court for allegedly stealing and vandalising the property of his employer.
Mohammed Garba was arraigned for alleged mischief and theft, offences punishable under Sections 287 and 326 of the Penal Code.Prosecutor Samuel Ochefor told the court that on August 16, Rear- Admiral Peter Ebhaleme, a farmer and a legal practitioner, reported at Kuje Divisional Police Headquarters, that the accused vandalised and stole his property.
Real Admiral Ebhaleme told the court that the defendant had been working for him for the past seven years and when his services were no longer needed, he was asked to move out of his farmland at Kuje, where the accused reared cattle for him.
He also stated that four years ago while he was abroad, the accused called him that the roof his own side of the house on the farmland was blown off by the wind. "When I heard this, I had no choice than to allow him move into my five bedrooms flat on the farmland."
The complainant further stated that before they moved out of the house, the family of the accused moved his property out of the house including doors and windows, all valued at N3 million.
When the charges were read to the accused, he denied them.
The judge, Salisu Garba, remanded the accused and adjourned the case to September 13 for hearing.
