Freetown — A 17 year-old boy residing at Hill Station in the west-end of Freetown has accused his mother, grand mother, uncle and three others of being witch crafts working for the underworld.

Confessing to one John Kamara, a witch doctor, the boy, Mohamed Turay, alleged that he was introduced into the underworld by his mother and that she was responsible for all the predicaments facing his father. "My mother is a witch; she bewitched my father until he was sacked from his job. She is also responsible for my father being afflicted with elephantiasis," he confessed.

Most people at the Hill Station community interviewed by Concord Times alleged that there is a glaring operation of the underworld in the community and that many continue to suffer as a result of its consequences. According to Santigie Sesay, his two children died mysteriously from minor illnesses, which he related to the work of witches in the area.

Adama Koroma, the mother of Mohamed Turay, denied the allegations saying, "I am not a witch craft or someone working for the underworld. I have been with my husband for the past 25 years and we have given birth to three children. I will not be so wicked to the extent of deterring the progress of my own husband. The boy is fabricating lies against me," she reacted.

Chief Ya Alimamy Turay, the traditional head of the community, urged the witch doctor to go ahead with his job of "cleansing the community of witch crafts". John Kamara however insisted that the boy has more to reveal and that by the time he would have finished, many hidden things would have been exposed.
