Sierra Leone: Cricket - Nation Loses to Namibia

Freetown — The Sierra Leone U-19 cricket team has once again lost to the host nation in the ongoing ICC Africa U-19 World Cup qualifiers in Namibia after earlier on losing to Kenya. The team lost to Namibia in day three of the ongoing qualifiers with the home side's influential player, Gerhard Lotter guiding his team to their third straight win.

Lotter made an impressive 150 runs which took Namibia to 263 runs all out after 49.4 overs, which implied that they defeat Sierra Leone by 188 runs after the latter were bowled out for 71 runs.

Christopher Coombe did the most damage for the Namibians after he collected 4 wickets for 26 runs in 9 overs. Wian van Vuuren had 3 wickets for 17 runs in 10 overs. Sierra Leone put up a poor performance scoring just 71 runs in 10 overs.

In another match, Kenya beat Tanzania by 100 runs after batsman Duncan Allan put them in the driving seat when he got 82 runs at Wanderers. The Kenyans were bowled out for 209 after 46 overs. The Tanzanians on the other hand failed to reach the total after they were bowled out for 109.

Top seeded Uganda were beaten by Botswana in a surprise win. Botswana won the toss and elected to bat and they set a very competitive 212 after their 50 overs. Varun Vijayakumar was the star of the team after he notched up 87 runs for Botswana.

After day three's results Namibia are leading the standings having won all their matches. Kenya has also won all three of their matches and are second. Uganda are now third after their loss. Sierra Leone and Botswana are fourth and fifth respectively while Nigeria are in sixth place. Zambia and Tanzania are seventh and eight positions respectively.
