All after-decision non-conformists in Government, principally under the Executive Branch of Government, would have themselves to blame for openly disagreeing with official policy actions.
An Information Ministry release notes that President Sirleaf, as head of the Executive Branch of the Government, is warning all members of Cabinet, heads of autonomous agencies and other officials to desist from publicly differing with Government’s overall position after a decision is already reached on a particular issue.
The warning, MICAT says, comes against the background that the processes leading to decisions are thoroughly vetted and that the Executive spends a considerable time soliciting opinions and comments from officials of Government, including those who may have a dissenting view on a particular matter.
Once a Cabinet position is endorsed, MICAT quotes an official Executive Branch as warning all those serving in the Executive Branch that they are obliged to support consensus-based decisions or run the risk of being separated from the Government.
In another development, the Government of Liberia has taken full financial responsibility for the burial of the late head of the defunct transitional government, David D. Kpomakpor.
The Government, according to MICAT, has already sent the amount of US$15,000 which was received on behalf of the family by the pastor who has been one of the caretakers during of the late chairman during period of illness and the final funeral parathion are well on the way.
A MICAT release states that the Government has also provided an US$5,000 to the son of the late chairman to facilitate his travel and other related expenses.
“Also an additional 5000 dollars has been given to the Liberian delegation headed by councilor Philip A.Z. Banks who also served on the council with the late Chairman Kpomakpor,” the release divulges, adding that representatives from the Liberian embassy in Washington and members of the Foreign Service in New York will attend the funeral.
