Abuja — Members of the executive committee of the Nigeria Football Federation rose from its inaugural meeting last night and announced that Samson Siasia's Chief Coach offer with the Eagles has been put on hold as the position has been thrown open to all including foreign coaches.
The Aminu Maigari-led NFF said the bid for the Eagles' plum job is expected to be advertised for all and sundry to apply in its determined bid to ensure the principles of due process, transparency and accountability and added that its priority is to focus on the development of the game.
Chris Green, an executive committee member of the new NFF however denied that the board ever made an offer of whatsoever amount to be paid Siasia for the job with the Eagles.
While announcing the dissolution of all standing committee and new ones to be constituted soon, Green said in a communiqué issued after the inaugural meeting, that, "The vacant position of Chief Coach of the Super Eagles is to be advertised and filled by 1st October, 2010".
He also announced the suspension of the commencement of the premier league hitherto scheduled to kick off on the 25th of this month. Green said the suspension was to allow the board to thrash out all outstanding issues in order to ensure smooth take off of the league.
