Eritrea: Mergida Agricultural Plant Steps Up Efforts to Boost Vegetables And Dairy Farming

Asmara — Mergida Agricultural Plant which is owned by 14 war-disabled veterans in Adi-Keih sub-zone is stepping up efforts to boost the supply of vegetables and dairy products to the market in the area.

The Administrator of the plant, Mr. Fisehaye Kidane, disclosed that it has supplied over 15,000 liters of milk and more than 300 quintals vegetable to the market in Adi-Keih. He went on to explain that various vegetables and crops have been planted over 16 hectares, in addition to the planting of animal feed for 52 dairy cattle.

Moreover, Mr. Fisehaye said that the war-disabled veterans have paid back some 500,000 interest-free loan, and are also in the process of saving.
