Eritrea: Enhanced Parent Role Described Vital in Promoting Student Capacity

Keren — In a meeting held in Keren town, the head of the branch office of the Ministry of Education in Anseba region, Mr. Bokretsion Habtemichael, stressed the importance of the role of parents in promoting student capacity.

The residents of the town and students participated in the meeting in which it was emphasized that children should be sent to school at the right age.

Mr. Bokretsion pointed out that the number of students who passed the national Grade 8 examination this year registered growth, and that this due to the concerted efforts on the part of teachers, parents and the students themselves. He further indicated that 34.4% students in the region passed the School Leaving Examination, out of which 16 scored full mark.

The head of schools in Keren sub-zone, Mr. Fikadu Gebrehawariat, on his part said that there is a plan to upgrade student capacity, and stressed the importance of holding meeting between elementary and junior schools teaching staff.
