Eritrea: Stepped-Up Endeavors to Be Exerted Towards Controlling T.B. Infection in Dekemhare Sub-Zone

Dekemhare — An assessment meeting held in Dekemhare town highlighted the need for facilitating agents in the sub-zone to redouble endeavors in preventing the spread of tuberculosis infection.

The head of TB and HIV/AIDS control department in the Southern region, Mr. Yemane Tsegai, stated that about 45 facilitating agents were elected from the community in 2007 to back up the effort to control TB epidemic. In this connection, he urged them to step up contribution in raising public awareness and encouraging patients to visit health centers.

The head of national T.B. control program, Dr. Minab Sebhatu, indicated on his part that the facilitating agents are entrusted with the task of undertaking campaign as regards the cause, consequence and ways of preventing tuberculosis, as well as making sure that patients take all the prescribed drugs.

Likewise, the Administrator of Dekemhare sub-zone, Mr. Ephrem Gebrekristos, pointed out that facilitating agents would be elected from the public and given training so that the efforts may bear gratifying outcome.
