President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has urged Cabinet Ministers to meet their financial obligations to media institutions.
The President's directive and concern come after series of reports of government ministries, despite budgetary allocations, are delaying payments for several months for services rendered. In some cases, some ministries demand for heaps of documents as preconditions for services already rendered.
In a memo from Dr. Momo Rogers, Director of the Cabinet, he told ministers that the president wants them to speedily meet their financial obligations to media entities. He said the President directs that ministers find funds in their operational accounts to pay their debts.
"In order to track payment and enable me to brief the president, I would be grateful were you send me, at your earliest convenience, a list of amounts you owe to which media outlets, and confirm to me when they have been paid", Dr. Rogers wrote.
