The Legislature has passed the Freedom of Information Act that originated from the Press Union of Liberia, and it now awaits the President signature to become.
The bill will create an enabling environment that will ensure the easy access to information from government and non-governmental organizations operating in the country.
Though the bill, which was passed behind closed doors, will empower both the media and ordinary citizens to freely seek information about the operation of both Government and NGOs, Sen. Cletus Wotorson, Senate President Pro-tempore noted that the bill has limitations.
"There are some limitations, the passage of the bill does not mean that you can invade my privacy," he said.
Despite its passage by the two houses, the bill would have to secure another support from the executives before it would become a law.
