Daily Monitor's Innocent Ndawula watched the game at Namboole and rates the stars.
*DENIS ONYANGO
Steady throughout. Did a good job handling onto the ball in slippery and muddy conditions. The new custodian of South African outfit Black Aces also had many cracking saves including a world class one at a very crucial time just after Uganda's second goal. 8
*SIMEON MASABA
Struggled to contain the pace and trickery of Angola's No.7 Ricardo Estevao aka Job. He couldn't even get forward like in the past games. But his experience saved him on the day. He did just okay. 6
*GODFREY WALUSIMBI
Excellent. Shaky first half gave way to a spectacular second in which he dispossessed and dominated Angola's most creative force Job. 7
*ANDY MWESIGWA
Put the 6'5 frame Mateus Contreiras a.k.a Manucho in his pocket for the entire game. Put a good physical defending display and capped his evening performance with a goal. Real contestant for Man of Match (MOM) award. 8.5
*IBRAHIM SEKAGYA
Captain cool, calm and collected. Another committed high-energy performance from the skipper as has become the norm whenever he dons the national stripe. The Uganda Cranes are simply not the same without him. 8
*TONY MAWEJJE
Was an assured presence in the center of the midfield where his partner Musa Mudde went missing. Confident on the ball and showed his passing range prowess. 8
*VINCENT KAYIZZI
OUR STAR MAN. Beat his men with ease for the entire day. Played in beautiful centers; two of which resulted into goals for towering David Obua and dangerous substitute Geoffrey Sserunkuma. He even had enough time to go back to help the suspect Masaba. Was a real threat all evening and Angolan coach Herve Renard's troops will never forget him. 9
*MUSA MUDDE
Occasion seemed to be too big for him as he went missing in the first half. But was alert and a different warrior in the second where he was involved in both second half goals. Decent shift. 7
*MIKE SSERUMAGA
Drifted in and out of the game. But still put in a good shift and his left foot always threatened danger. Busy man and got back to support the defence. 7
*DAVID OBUA
When did he ever have a bad game for Uganda? Got the scoreboard ticking with a clinical opener. King David surely won his battle, silenced the critics and retained his throne. Big man, big occasion. 8
*GEOFFREY MASSA
As usual, he did all the hard work. Chasing after every ball and creating problems for Angola's defence with his pace. But the Etisalat FC (Egypt) striker should have scored one of the two gilt edged chances that came his way. It seems unthinkable that his place is under threat from the trio Brian Umony, Sserunkuma and Robert Ssentongo (never played) - but this is the case. 7
SUBSTITUTES:
*BRIAN UMONY
(On for Obua 73rd min)
He was involved in the move for Sserunkuma's goal and was there to nod it home if the cross had gone past the Bidvest Wits striker. He has a reputation of being a predator who when given a sniff at half chance will put it away. Good man with an average of a goal per game. 7
*GEOFFREY SSERUNKUMA
(On for Massa 80th min)
Terrific finish from a man who always seems to score for Uganda. Renown goal poacher whose knocks on the door for a starting role need to be heard. No longer lazy as in the past. 7
*HASSAN WASSWA MAWANDA
(On for Sserumaga in 83rd)
Not enough time to make an impact. Solid rock that will play an increasing part in Uganda Cranes' campaign over the next years. 6
*COACH BOBBY WILLIAMSON:
The Scot and his assistant Moses Basena get full marks for the new adventurous and attractive brand of football that has turned the Cranes into an attacking force.
*SUBSTITUTES NOT USED:
Hamza Muwonge (goalkeeper), Joseph Owino (defender), Dan Wagaluka (right winger) and Stephen Bengo (left winger).
