Dar es Salaam — MAINLAND Champions Simba on Saturday suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of visiting and Kenyan giants Gor Mahia, in a friendly match at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
The Kenyans exposed Simba and went ahead just two minutes from the kick off, when Ochola Francis scored with ease, before Okoth Collins added the second ten minutes later.
Collins put the game beyond Simba's reach two minutes before the break when he netted the third. The dull match that attracted spoonful supporters saw Simba struggling.
They displayed a disjointed game especially in the first half that left their fans wondering whether it was the same team that impressively won the league last season, without losing a game.
Coach Patrick Phiri made several changes after the break, bringing in Kelvin Yonda, Jerry Santo, Uhuru Selemani, Mohammed Banka and Emmanuel Okwi for David Naftari, Abdulhalim Houmoud, Rashid Gumbo, Amri Kiemba and Kelvin Chale.
The changes somewhat rejuvenated Simba, but it was already too late for them to turn around the score. Simba used the match to keep fit for the league matches.
