Uganda: Red Cross Takes Water to Four Northern Districts

Kampala — Many residents of Gulu, Amuru, Kitgum and Lamwo districts have been walking for over six kilometres to fetch water.

But it will be a different story in 10 months, thanks to the Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) water and sanitation hygiene project.

The 10-month sh2b project funded by the European Commission is being implemented in the four Acholi sub-region districts. URCS programme officer Moses Kirigwajjo said the organisation has drilled 27 boreholes in the four districts, rehabilitated 18 others and protected three wells in Amuru.
