Kampala — A driver lost control of a truck loaded with thousands of NRM party T-shirts from Mombasa on Thursday and overturned off the Jinja-Malaba border highway.

The South Eastern Regional Police spokesperson, Samson Lubega, said the accident occurred at around 9:00pm two miles from Jinja town. No injuries were reported.

The truck driver, Thomas Mtaranya, said he was transporting the T-shirts to Kampala but declined to give further details. He said he lost control after stepping on a sharp stone that ripped one of the front tyres. The Jinja traffic officer, Grace Talyogerwako, said the items were left intact in the container.
