Tanzania: Special Talents School Opens in Kiteto

Arusha — Pastoral communities need to be keen in education for their sustainable development.

The advice was given by Chinese government representative, Yong Hi Tao at the opening of an international special talents school named Laalakiri and located in Partimbo ward of Kiteto district.

Tao who was contractor of the school, built through collaboration between the governments of China and Tanzania said the school would only be useful if the local pastoral community sent their children to study.

He said investing in education is investing for sustainable development.

The Kiteto District Administrative Secretary Claudio Bitegeko wanted the school property to be cared for when he handed the school buildings keys to the District Commissioner Frank Uhaula.

Bitegeko said the buildings should be put to maximum use or else they would remain empty structures of no use to anyone.

He said the new school administration should take care of the facility environment as there was danger of degradation once a big population of students starts trampling the campus.

The Kiteto District Executive Director Jane Mutagulwa promised to sensitize the pastoral community to enroll their children in the school comes January 2011.

Mutagulwa also assured the sponsors the property would remain intact and used for the purpose for which it was constructed.
