Namibia: OATF Ends On High Note

Ongwediva — The 10th edition of the Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair (OATF) ended on a high note last week with an award ceremony where more than 20 exhibitors received honours in different categories for their contribution and participation at this year's showpiece.

Speaking during the award ceremony, sponsored by Standard Bank, Chairperson of the OATF, Damian Egumbo, said the organising committee of the annual event has been impressed by this year's participation by both local and international exhibitors.

Speaking at the high-profile event Egumbo applauded them for continuously striving to improve the fair's image to make it one of the most prominent and sought-after trade exhibitions in the country.

"These awards serve to encourage you, exhibitors, to take your business initiatives to greater heights," he noted. Egumbo applauded the exhibitors for their hard work in showcasing their diverse cultures and innovative business ideas at the trade fair.

The Namibia Tourism Board scooped the best exhibitor prize, as well as the best tourism and hospitality award. This was followed by Standard Bank Namibia and Nedbank Namibia, in the second and third place, respectively. A locally based business, "Work with Your Hands" was awarded the best medium-scale enterprise, as well as the OATF platinum award.

The organisers of the event did not shy away from the fact that they made "good money", because of the record number of people who visited the event on a daily basis.

The organisers will provide the attendance figures at a later date.
