Sierra Leone: Three Remanded for Robbing Lawyer

Freetown — Magistrate J.O. Wellington of court No. 2 has sent three accused persons to the Pademba Road maximum prison on remand for allegedly robbing lawyer Oliver Ogunlade Nylender at his office on August 30 this year.

The accused were charged with two counts of conspiracy and robbery contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone. According to the statement obtained from the complainant, the three accused on Monday 30 August, broke into lawyer Nylender's office located at 10 Charlotte Street in Freetown and robbed him of his mobile phone worth Le600,000 and Le300,000 in cash.

The accused were said to have been armed with a knife which they allegedly used to threaten the complainant into submission until they succeeded in robbing him. The three accused - Aminata Bundu, David Kamara and Bockarie Kamara - were denied bail on the ground that they might jump bail and interfere with prosecution witnesses. The matter was adjourned to today Friday September 3.

Another matter relating to land was also summoned before Magistrate Wellington but the 11 accused persons were granted bail in the sum of Le500,000 and one surety each. The matter was adjourned to September 21 this year.
