Kenya: Anglican Prelate Wabukala's Wife is Dead

Nairobi — The wife of Anglican Church of Kenya Archbishop Eliud Wabukala has died in Nairobi.

Mama Caren Nakhumicha Wabukala collapsed in her house on Sunday at 8pm. She was rushed to Nairobi Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival.

A statement from the Anglican church headquarters in Kenya said news of Caren's collapse reached the Archbishop as he checked in at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on a scheduled trip out of the country.

"This was happening as the Archbishop checked in at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on his way to London for a Global South meeting scheduled to begin today (Monday).

"However, we managed to communicate to him....and he was able to view her body at Nairobi Hospital before movement to the Lee Funeral Home," said the Anglican provincial secretary, the Reverend Canon Rosemary Mbogo in the statement.

A memorial service will be held on September 9, 2010 at All Saints' Cathedral, Nairobi.

The body will be laid to rest on Saturday in Butonge Location, Bungoma District.
