Tanzania: Gymkhana Golfer Win Professional Tour

Hassan Kadio's carded 215 gross strokes to win the Professional Golf Tour at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club course yesterday.

Kadio winded up the three-day tournament with a fabulous one over par 72 that took his gross score beyond rival's reach.

Yasin Saleh, who posed a constant threat to the winner, finally settled at the second position with 219 strokes.

Geoffrey Leverian who finished third with 222 strokes breathed fire behind Saleh, but the latter kept his cool to claim the second spot.

The fourth position went to the overnight leader, Salum Dilunga Ninja, who accumulated 223 gross strokes followed by Stanley Sanga with 228 strokes.

In the amateur category, Athumani Chiundu displayed a sterling performance to return 229 strokes and win the title.

Despite his brilliance, the victory had to be decided by count back after tying with Michael Makala.

Makala finished second ahead of the Iddi Mzaki whose efforts earned him 231 strokes.

Fourth overall was Arusha's Jimmy Mollel who returned 234 strokes beating Pembe Kondo who managed 241 strokes.

The club also hosted Lady Cameroon Golf tournament whose winner was Mariam Hizza.

Hizza won the title after scoring 31 points, beating Hawa Wanyeche and Zainab Ibrahim who chalked 40 points each.
