The national netball team, Taifa Queens, clashes with Zimbabwe tomorrow in South Africa in the World Championship qualifier.
Two teams that will finish top will guarantee their tickets to the 2011 finals planned for Singapore.
The team departed for South Africa yesterday, brimming with confidence following their month long training.
Netball lost its prominence since the late 1980s, but the governing body, Chaneta, has lately been striving to promote the sport from the grassroots.
Eight countries has sent their troops to South Africa in the tournament. They include; Swaziland, Uganda, Zimbabwe and the hosts, South Africa.
Other teams setting sights on the Singapore event are Lesotho, Botswana and Namibia.
The Tanzanian players, who flew to South Africa are; Jacqueline Sikozi, Sekela Dominic, Veronica Patrick, Mwanaidi Hassan and Hellen Peter.
The list includes; Restituta Boniface, Irene Elias, Lillian Gideon, Judith Kazinja, Mary Kagikili, Zuhura Twalib and Veronica Joseph.
South Africa (6) and Malawi (7) are the highest rated Africans teams in the IFNA rankings. Tanzania holds the 21st position.
