Angola: Cooperation Between Govt, Italy Gains New Developments

Luanda — The ambassador of Italy to Angola, Giuseppe Mistretta, Monday in Luanda, said inter-university cooperation between the two countries is a historical programme that has been gaining new developments over the years.

The ambassador said an Italian consortium has been running masters degrees, lessons and periodical presentations with the Angola's State-owned "Agostinho Neto" University (UAN), in the sectors of geology and architecture.

The diplomat was speaking at the opening of a seminar on "Modern techniques of cartography" that will go for four days in Luanda.

According to Giuseppe Mistretta, the two countries have of late strengthened cooperation and have been seeking to deepen inter-university cooperation projects.

The diplomat on the occasion announced a new programme of cooperation between the Italian Commission and the Angolan Ministry of Telecommunication and Information and Technologies in seismology and volcanology, a sector that, he added, opens a new page in the technical and technological cooperation between the two states.

The seminar is being jointly run by the Geology Education and Research Department of the Faculty of Science and the Embassy of Italy.

It is being attended by members of the department of Geology, Geophysics and Geographic Engineering, Geobase Consultoria, Geologic Institute, Sonangol and Endiama.
