Rwanda: Name, Redesign Kigali Roads

editorial

Kigali City Council has embarked on the rehabilitation of the road network to ease the flow of traffic in the city. The multi million dollar project has transformed the roads.

Streets and roads without lights are now brightly light during the night. The poor drainage has been fixed. However, I suggest the Kigali City also invests in naming the roads. Without these names, locating a place in the city becomes hard. This discourages the public from moving.

By not moving, the city authorities are indirectly denying transporters, roadside sellers and other service providers' income. I also suggest a redesign of bus stops to make them more customer friendly distances. It is tiresome to walk for a kilometer before one finds the next stop.

Redesign the roads and passengers will use the next stop other than all going to Rubangura's road for taxis.
