Asmara — A group comprising of the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Arefaine Berhe, the Minister of Education, Mr. Semere Russom, the Administrator of Central region, Mr. Kahsai Gebrehiwet, Brig. General Abrahalei Kifle and the Chairman of the Central Regional Assembly, as well as other officials and agricultural experts conducted a tour to different parts of the Central region to observe the implementation of development programs.

Members of the group visited Embaderho administrative area, Serejeka sub-zone, during which they observed the planting of 26,000 tree seedlings and the construction of terraces undertaken this year through the coordinated endeavors of the general public and various institutions. Besides, they observed the condition of farmlands and reforestation activities in Geremi, in addition to the implementation of development programs in Dembe Zawul.

Also in the course of the tour to Berikh sub-zone, they observed the condition of farming in Wekiduba and the 25 hectares in Adi-Sifeda currently under drip irrigation and the putting in place of infrastructure facilities. They also observed the land plots below a micro-dam in Tseazega ready to be cultivated, during which they received briefings on the land plots distributed to 360 farmers in a bid to facilitate the development process.

Moreover, the group visited the Adi-Tsenaf micro-dam in Gala-Nefhi sub-zone that was constructed this year at an expenditure of over 7 million Nakfa.

In accordance with the new agricultural methodology introduced by the Central regional Administration, every farmer is entrusted with the responsibility of undertaking reforestation activities which would eventually benefit the farmer himself.

The members of the group commended the implementation of such development programs and called on farmers to make good use of the available facilities.
