Namibia: Lucretia is Omaheke Youth Queen

Gobabis — The two-day fifth edition of the Omaheke Regional Youth Enterprise Expo ended in style at the Epako Community Hall Saturday, with a music show and the crowning of the expo's queen and her princesses.

The star-studded entertainment programme for the night included Black Stars and Tura oviritje groups, Still TK representing the Afro pop and disco genre, Stanley "Ou Stakes" in the Damara punch genre, Qonja in the Shambo Kwaito, Tripple K's, kwaito and STS, a kwaito vocalist.

Lucretia Ontshiametse Bitz was crowned Miss ORYE, Miss Omaheke Regional Youth Expo, while Nancy Tjiroze emerged the 1st princess and Joyce Namushinga second princess. Izana Swartbooi was crowned Miss Personality.

The event opened Friday morning following a parade in the main street of the town, winding up at Shoprite Park where the official launch took place.

The official opening, presided over by Youth Director in the Ministry of Youth, National Service, Sport and Culture, Patrick Haingura, on behalf of the Minister Kazenambo Kazenambo, and Omaheke Governor Laura McLeod-Katjirua and the Acting Secretary-General of the National Youth Council Mandela Kapere, among others, set the scene for two days of showcasing and painstaking judging to award the various exhibitors for their efforts.

Following the opening on Friday, dignitaries were guided by members of the expo's organising committee, the youth ministry officials, through the various stalls.

Prizes were awarded for the best three stalls in various categories.

In the grouping Manufacturing Arts and Crafts, Fashion Express took first place followed by Ngaturitunge Project in second and Hellicops Project in third place.

Smart Designs took the coveted first prize in the Young Entrepreneur Currently in Business category, with Rock Stone in second place and Young Innovator's Business Group third.

In the Service Providers category, Talitha Khume Florals came first, Young Innovator's Business Group second and Lambunga Fashion third.

In the San Community Entrepreneur category, San Come Alive ran away with the laurels while the Nossobville Primary School and the Rakutuka Primary School came second and third respectively in the Youth Organisations category.

The Epako Youth Health Club palmed in the prize for poetry and in the drama category, 'What do you think?' came first, Meropa ya Metsweding second and Epako Youth Health Club third.

In the traditional music category, Meropa ya Metsweding came first, with Skoonheid Resettlement group second.

Still TK won the group vocalist category followed by Black Star and STS.

In the solo artists category, Still TK also grabbed the first place followed by Low Key and Jaino. Tripple K's pipped Twizza's by only a point in the dancing artists category, with Dancing Angels in third place.
