Eritrea: 6th Ypfdj Conference in North America Conducted

Asmara — The 6th YPFDJ Conference in North America was conducted from September 2 to 5 in Washington D.C. under the theme: "Furthering the Aims and Objectives of the YPFDJ Movement."

In a message he conveyed to the participants via video conference, Mr. Yemane Gebreab, Head of Political Affairs at the PFDJ, noted the strength and defiance demonstrated by the Eritrean people against the illegal and unjust US sanctions resolution. He further stated that Eritrea is always ready to foster relations based on mutual interest with a view to promoting peace and justice at the regional and global level.

The senior PFDJ official further pointed out that priority attention is being given to the task of building human capacity, achieving food security and ensuring economic emancipation on the basis of the self-reliance principle. In this respect, he stressed the crucial role of YPFDJ in building a viable and strong nation.

Likewise, Dr. Woldai Futur, the Eritrean government's high-level delegation, commended the active participation of the Eritrean youth in the nation-building process through inheriting the cherished values of past generations that has served the people and the nation. He also called on them to reinforce such contribution.

Also speaking on the occasion, the Eritrean Ambassador to the US, Mr. Girmai Gebremariam, lauded the unparalleled dedication of Eritrean youths in safeguarding the nation's sovereignty and enhancing the development drive.

Following discussion on the agenda items put forth at the conference, the participants mapped out a 3-year strategic plan and annual action program.

YPFDJ members from different US cities and Canada took part in the conference.
