Africa: War End Essential for Continent's Development - Diplomat

Luanda — The ambassador of Mali to Angola, Farouk Camara, today considered that the resolution of of civil and inter-states wars in Africa should be a primary issue to give the African rulers the opportunity to care about the development of their respective countries.

Speaking to Angop about the ongoing conflicts in the continent, the Malian diplomat stated that the prevailing African wars require the use of all means for their peaceful solution.

On the conflicts in West Africa, the ambassador dismissed any religous nature of the conflicts, as claimed by some observers, but have essentially economic origin.

He stated that the source of conflicts are not religious conflicts between Muslims and Christians but bad market management, shortage of land for agriculture and pastoralism and bad governance.

He said that 95 per cent of Malians are Muslim urging the need for a peaceful cohexistance between Muslims and Christians.

Asked about the actions of the Islamic Maghreb Al Qaeda in Mali, the ambassador stressed that it is not a domestic problem of Mali, but it came from north, namely from Algeria.
