Uganda: Karamoja Losers Threaten Violence

Kampala — The Moroto district NRM returning officer, Sylivester Ogwang has sought shelter from at the Central Police station, Moroto because of pressure from from the NRM primaries.

They accuse him of declaring inaccurate election results. "I have nothing to do because, what I have announced are the correct results scored by each contender," Ogwang said.

The police have given him escots wherever he goes. The Moroto district movement chairman also former special presidential advisor on the disarmament affairs Micheal Lokawa Lote wants Ogwang arrested for what he calls messing up elections.

Lokawa alleged that other candidates used him to forge poll results in their favour. "We cannot continue with such a corrupt and greedy person," he said. Lokawa followed Ogwang into the local radio station to deter him from announcing results before the police intervened. "Whether you throw me out, he must pay the price," he shouted. However, Ogwang insisted that Lokawa was bitter was defeated in the elections.
