Harare — Alick Macheso thrilled his fans at Ochi City in Hatcliffe on Sunday. The talented bassist put up a good performance in front of his fans and many were quite convinced that the man indeed was gifted.
Some of the songs he played included "Madhawu", "Shedia", "Kunyarara", "Charakupa" and of course his controversial yet to be released song, "Nyarara hako Tafadzwa", which was named after his soon-to-be second wife, Tafadzwa.
Elsewhere Allan Chimbetu had a good day in the office at Chegutu Arms and Kudzanai Beerhall in Norton, following a good and flawless show at the weekend.
These were two shows not to be missed as Allan - younger brother to the late legend Simon Chimbetu -- ushered revellers on a memorable music voyage from the days that the two brothers were still an item to the present.
So confident was Allan on the microphone, guitar and dance floor that he did his things effortlessly, showing how working with his late brother honed him into the artiste that he is today.
Musicians Kudzaishe Nyakudya, Olinda Marowa, Bethan Pasinawako, Nathaniel Ncube and Phelimon Nyabonda proved that they are in a league of their own when they put up an uplifting performance during a fund-raising concert held at Unit K Methodist Church in Chitungwiza on Saturday afternoon.
Although the show started a few hours late than was expected, this however, didn't dampen the musicians' spirits who thrilled people with their various acts. The inaugural show was aimed at raising funds for the Chitungwiza East Circuit Choirs Festival to be held on September 19.
As usual, Kudzi was in fine form belting out crowd favourites like "Hallelujah", "Ndamuona Jesu" and "Emannuel", among others. He proved why he was one of the country's most talented gospel musicians.
Bethan Pasinawako also had a good time on stage and her hit song "Ndinzverei" stole the hearts of many, while young and slender songstress Olinda Marowa also showed the stuff she is made of.
Although to many the name Phelimon Nyabonda might not quickly ring a bell, the musician also made his presence felt with his catalogue of songs like "Ngatinamatei Mwari", "Mwari wakatuma Sauro" and "Vanhu vakuda nyika kudarika Mwari", among others.
"The money will be used for transport and buying uniforms, among other things required by the choirs from our circuit during choir festival to be held soon," said Tichaona Hakutambwi, one of the organisers of the concert.
Lina Mapere, the chairperson of the circuit said this was also another way of a number of fundraising projects that the church can hold.
"Rather than always relying on pledges from church members, we decided to organise this event and raise the money through music," she said. The presence of veteran instrumentalists Lyton and Brian Ngolomi enhanced the performance.
