Tanzania: PPF Stakeholders for Arusha Forum

Mwanza — SEVEN countries have so far confirmed to attend a three-day PPF stakeholders meeting which starts on September 15, at the AICC in Arusha.

Public Relations Manager with the Parastatal Pensions Fund (PPF), Ms Sara Kibonde named the countries as Kenya, Uganda , Ghana, Gambia, Swaziland, Malawi, Sierra Leone and hosts Tanzania.

She told the 'Daily News' here that the forum aims to brief the members on how they have been implementing various issues related to the PPF missions and good governance. She said over 500 participants will attend the meeting.

"This will be of a familiarization meeting among stakeholders from the invited countries and we real want to tell the people, what (we) in PPF have been doing", she said.

She added that the meeting will also come up with a resolution which will be used as a roadmap for the improvement of their services.

"And we are expecting more participants from Rwanda and Burundi because they have also confirmed to attend," she added.

She said about seven agendas are expected to be presented on at meeting. They include Social Security within the East Africa Community (EAC), Social Security practices in EAC-challenges in assessing social security in the East Africa Common Market.

Other topics to be tabled on that meeting include PPF operations, where the participants will look on the general operation within PPF, on membership, contribution, collection and the benefit payments.

"The meeting also will look into PPF investment, loans to SACCOS, both on local housing and local housing staff projects and formalization of informal sector," she said.

She added that the meeting participants will have a room to look on HIV Aids nutrition aspects and implementation of HIV policy at work places.
