Kampala — Fresh from leading Uganda to a 3-0 dismissal of Angola on Saturday, Cranes coach Bobby Williamson's efforts will be rewarded with a contract extension today. The 50-year-old Scot was appointed in July 2008 and signed a two-year deal that has since expired.
Fufa president Lawrence Mulindwa confirmed to Daily Monitor the coach would pen the deal but was non-committal on Williamson's salary. "It's true. His agent has been here and Bobby will sign an improved four-year deal today." Mulindwa also disclosed that in the deal, Williamson will earn Shs113m ($50,000) for Nations Cup qualification, Shs226m ($100,000) for the 2014 World Cup in bonus.
His earlier deal covered two-air tickets a year, medical insurance, and Shs1.1m ($500) phone expenses among others. Since replacing Laszlo Csaba, Williamson has won two Cecafa titles and qualified Uganda to the Africa Nations Championships, a home-based players' tournament, due in Sudan next year. Williamson also started the 2012 Nations Cup qualifiers with the win against Angola, Kenya being next opponents.
