Ghana: Oil Deal Reached with Equatorial Guinea

Ghana and Equatorial Guinea have signed an agreement for the supply of crude oil to Ghana. The agreement was signed between the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation and Guinea Ecutorial de Petroleos (GEPetrole) on behalf of their respective countries.

According to a statement issued by GNPC, the agreement was reached by the two countries during the recent visit by His Excellency President Evans Atta Mills to the Republic of Equitorial Guinea between 5th and 7th of May 2010.

The contract provides for an allocation of 2,000,000 barrels of Zafiro Blend crude oil per year to Ghana.

The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation said it effected the first lifting of about one million and fifty thousand barrels under the contract on the 31st of July 2010.
