Uganda: Saleh Ton Fails to Inspire ACC

Kyambogo — Top-order batsman Hamza Almuzahim Saleh struck an unbeaten century of 104 runs but couldn't save struggling Africa Cricket Club (ACC) from going down to Tornado by five wickets in a Division I National Cricket League encounter at Kyambogo oval.

Saleh's century and captain Ivan Thawithemwira's 23 were the only mention worthy scores for 10-man ACC who finished at 182 in the allotted 50 overs. Emmanuel Isaneez (3/25) and Mark Taremwa (3/38) were the chief destroyers for Tornado.

ACC, hoping to upstage second-placed Tornado, were kept in the game by 11-year-old off-spinner Siraje Mwamba Nsubuga (3/28) and Australian-import Daniel Strachan (2/32) but were undone by Akbar Baig (52) and Mitch Horrocks (49*).

Wanderers stop Nile

At Lugogo, Wanderers spinner Ali Raza (4/23) helped bundle out Nile for 84 runs as his side won by six wickets. Quick fire knocks of 34 from Jonathan Ssebanja and Abubaker Sseguya (14) wrapped up victory for Wanderers.

In the Second Division, Makerere University ended their losing run with a one-wicket victory over season-debutantes Tamil Lions at Entebbe oval. SKLPS defeated Castle Development by 168 runs in Budo whereas JACC defeated Jinja Indians by five wickets in the Jinja derby.
