Cabinda — An extraordinary session to describe the role of the Ombuds Office was held Tuesday in Cabinda City, addressed by Ombudsman Paulo Tjipilica.
The dissertation focused particularly on the "role, mandate, origin and importance of the Ombudsman", defining this job as an independent civil individual and defender of the rights and freedoms of citizens.
According to Paulo Tjipilica, Ombudsman secures, through informal means, the administration of justice and legitimacy of public administration services.
In Angola, he added, Ombudsman is elected by the National Assembly regardless of consent of the executive and the judiciary system for a term of five years.
He explained that citizens and organisations can submit complains to the Ombudsman through informal means such as telephones.
The session was designed for members of the provincial government of Cabinda, public prosecutors, officers from Angolan Armed Forces, National Police and other guests.
