Nairobi — The country-wide Dasani Golf Gala now heads to the slopes of Mt Kenya for the 12th event at Nyeri Golf Club this weekend.
The gala concluded its tour of Nyanza and Western Kenya region last weekend at Nyanza Golf Club Kisumu.
The nine-hole Nyeri Club course, home of the famous "Kerio Valley hole" - the sixth hole among the nine holes and one of the longest par fives in the country with a magnificent view of the Mt Kenya - will play host to members from Nanyuki Sports Club and Nyahururu Golf Club as well as guests of the sponsors, Mt Kenya Bottlers.
Speaking from Nyeri, the Mt Kenya Bottlers CEO, Joyce Macharia, said golfers would be treated to a real "gala" at Nyeri.
"As the host bottlers, it is our duty to invite golfers from our territory and to ensure we create a great golfing atmosphere.
"This gala gives us a good opportunity to thank our loyal supporters and sample Dasani water, focusing clearly on the importance of hydration for top golf and other sports performances" said Macharia.
Cool Zone
As usual, in addition to action on the course, non-golfers will be treated to golf lessons from professional golfers at what is now popularly known as the Dasani Cool Zone.
Over 100 players are drawn to vie for the team and individual prizes with the winning team expected to book a place in grand finale set for Muthaiga Golf Club on October 22 where the top team will earn a fully paid for golfing trip to the world famous Fancourt Golf Resort in George South Africa.
Being the hosts, Nyeri has entered the highest number of participants while Nanyuki has listed 34 with 16 coming from Nanyuki.
There will also be special prizes for the guests from Coca-Cola East and Central Africa office as well as guests from Mt Kenya Bottlers.
