Luanda — The general co-ordinator of the Spanish Co-operation in Angola, Josep Puig, said on Wednesday in Luanda that his country intends to strengthen its support to Angola and co-operate with the Angolan government in new sectors, so as to boost the development of this African country and empower its citizens.
Josep Puig was speaking to ANGOP on the sidelines of a socialisation dinner aimed for the celebration of the Expatriate Workers Day, marked on 8 September. The official said that the Spanish government intends to redouble its actions in the fields of community civic education, literacy, health and fight against poverty with the incentives to agriculture.
He said that at this moment the assistance from Spain to Angola is based on the identification of strategies to materialise the plan of administrative decentralisation, so as to create effective local elections in the country, as well as transmission of scientific knowledge and professional experience.
According to him, Angola has already experienced big problems but it has a powerful human resource. Thus, the co-ordinator said that it is important to continue investing seriously in the professional training of its population, literacy of more disadvantaged people regarding basic services and in the transmission of social values.
Regarding the co-operation between Spain and Angola, Josep Puig considered them as excellent. Promoted by the Spanish International Co-operation Agency for Development (AECID), the dinner was attended mostly by Spanish citizens.
